The Dog of the Highlands: West Highland White Terrier
Around 1700, the Isle of Skye and the Highlands of Scotland and others were developing a lot of small terriers. Scottish breeds were separated into two: the Skye terrier and the Dandie Dinmont terriers.
The Dandie Dinmonts were classified as a race apart. The Skyes included the Scotties, the Cairns and western highlands white terriers or the Westies.
It was also noted that these terriers were the hybrids among the crossed Cairns Scottish, and Dandies terriers. One might assume that the hybrid would really be loyal and its hunting instincts can not be underestimated. Breeders should note of the health issues:
• Chronic skin problems
• Perthes disease (hip problems)

• Cranio mandibular osteopathy (lion jaw)
• Patella luxation, a disorder in the kneecap
• Liver ailments
• Deafness
• Congenital heart disease
Care and Exercise:
• Your hair should be brushed regularly with a stiff brush.
• It should bathe only when necessary.
• The whole layer should be stripped at least twice a year and trimmed every four months.
• The skin in the eyes and ears should be trimmed using blunt mirrors.
• They will surely be more agile and healthy after regular sessions game sessions and / or walking.
Source / History:
As noted, they share the same lineage with Cairns and Scotties Terrier (Skye) and even with the Dandys. This trio was developed on the island of Skye, which was one of the highlands of Scotland. It was noted that white cubs were chosen from the wiry-coated Cairns, Scotties, and Dandies to produce the variety known as Poltalloch terriers.

In the mid-1900s, breeders of the Cairns in Argyll, Scotland selected white puppies from the population and mix to get some white Cairns. However, in 1917, the American Kennel Club ruled that Cairns could be included if they have the lineage of the Westies ". You could say history repeats itself for this delightful terrier is now being done a favorite companion dog of many households.

How to clean outdoor furniture?
Hello. I have this chair garden chair tan as it is spotted. It has green spots everywhere. Its supposed to be white and I wonder how clean that up? So far I have tried half Verde on it with a stiff brush steel. then I tried plain ol liquid dishwashing. He cleaned the spots of some, but are still visible. Any ideas?
The green spots are probably mold of some sort. Try power washing. If you do not have one, maybe a friend or relative was allowed to borrow yours.
